Jerwin Ancajas, the former junior bantamweight world champion who made made an impressive nine world title defense of his IBF junior bantamweight world title which he held from 2017 to 2022.
That said, 2022 was a tough year for Ancajas as he fought two times, losing his IBF junior bantamweight world title to Fernando Martinez, and then losing the rematch as well. Now it appears Ancajas is going to return at a new division, the bantamweight division.
Sean Gibbons recently caught up with ProBox TV News to give the latest information about Ancajas’ career and his return in the fall.
Takuma Inoue is the current WBA bantamweight champion, as he won the belt his brother, Naoya Inoue, vacated when he decided to move up to the super bantamweight division after becoming the undisputed bantamweight world champion. Takuma Inoue defeated Liborio Solis in April of this year to become the new world champion.
It appears that if everything goes well, Jerwin Ancajas will be fighting Takuma Inoue for a world title in the fall.
The bantamweight division is starting to take shape as Jason Moloney recently won the vacant WBO bantamweight world title, and the aforementioned Takuma Inoue, recently won the WBA bantamweight world title.
