Jaron Ennis Says If It Was Up To Him, He’d Fight The Best

Jaron Ennis thought his next bout would be against Eimantas Stanionis for the WBA’s secondary welterweight title, yet it isn’t.

Vergil Ortiz, and his team perfectly positioned themselves for the that fight as the WBA ordered Stanionis vs. Ortiz for a purse bid to be held Monday, December 12th.

In its wake is the harsh truth that Ennis will now face the highest rated IBF welterweight fighter willing to fight him in Karen Chukhadzhian for the IBF interim welterweight title as part of the January 7th pay-per-view card headlined by Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia.

“That’s another belt to collect and another undefeated guy on my resume,” Ennis said when speaking to BoxingScene.com. “So, it don’t really matter to me who wins. They’re two great fighters, so it don’t really matter to me.”

Ennis makes it clear if it was up to him, Stanionis would be his next opponent.

“If it was up to me, we’d be fighting next,” Ennis said.
