Janibek Alimkhanuly, one of middleweight boxing’s most rising of stars and its newest holder of a WBO world title, will reportedly return to the ring in November to make his maiden defense of his WBO World title following his elevation to full champion status in August. Janibek (12-0) previously held the WBO interim title following an impressive and dominant two-round affair with Britain’s Danny Dignum in May (14-1-1) putting Janibek in line to fight now former WBO champion and former 154lb title holder Demetrius Andrade. Andrade has now decided to move up to super-middleweight for pastures new with the possibility of fighting for a WBO interim super-middleweigh title against Zach Parker. This following Frank Warren’s recent purse bid victory for the contest which was originally slated for May of this year but was pulled due to injury of Andrade. It was this whcih saw Janibek elevated to full WBO world champion status.
Boxingscene.com is reporting that Janibek’s maiden defense will come against Denzel Bentley on the 12th of December in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be broadcast in the U.S by ESPN and promoted by Top Rank.
Bentley (17-1-1) was in action recently against Marcus Morrison (25-6) in London and performed in impressive fashion claiming a stoppage victory inside four rounds. The proposed date will see a quick turn around for the London based Bentley, who was in action against Morrison on the 16th of September and came out of the contest relatively unscathed and seeking to cause an upset.
