Social media influencer & professional fighter Jake Paul (6-1, 4KOs) has formally announced that he will return to the ring on August 5th in Dallas, Texas, against former UFC champion Nate Diaz. Jake, who suffered the first loss of his boxing career against bonafide professional, Tommy Fury, will be seeking to return to winning ways against Diaz, who have developed a genuine dislike for each other during recent years.
Paul remains a popular draw in the sport due to his following via social media, which is supported by his viewing figures with 800k PPV sales from his encounter with Fury in February in Saudi Arabia. Jake, would ultimately lose the contest via a split decision to Fury.
Nate Diaz has never boxed professionally and has campaigned in the UFC for many years before a release in 2022. He has a big following and popularity which will make the occasion unmissable for the fan bases of each respective fighter. Boxing has played an essential component in Diaz’s career as an MMA fighter, and he has previously trained alongside Andre Ward.
The contest will have a weight agreement of 185 lbs and will follow all boxing rules and protocols for the particular weight.
Paul feels that people believe that he is vulnerable and that his team wanted him to focus on a fight with KSI instead of Diaz. Paul feels that he will win the contest via knockout.
“My last fight didn’t end the way I wanted, but the result was the best thing that could have happened to my professional boxing aspirations. Now, the world thinks I am vulnerable, when all I am is more focused than ever. My team wanted me to take an easy fight like KSI next, but that’s not how I am built. Nate Diaz is considered one of the most bad-ass fighters of all time, but he and his team have been running their mouths for too long,” said Paul.
“People tell me Nate has been training with Andre Ward for years. That he has insane stamina. That he refuses to back down. Good for fucking Nate. I haven’t forgotten about the slap backstage in Arizona, and on August 5th, a Problem Child is going to piece up and knock out the Stockton G.”
Diaz says that Jake Paul is the biggest attraction in boxing other than Canelo Alvarez. If he is successful against Paul, Diaz hinted at possibly returning to the UFC
“Besides Canelo he’s the biggest thang in boxing. I’m here to conquer that. I’m the King of combat sports and then I’m headed back to get my UFC belts,” said Diaz. “I fucked up Conor McGregor for acting out and now here I am again, like a Super Hero of the Real Fight game, the King of the Real Fight game.”
The contest will be broadcast globally on DAZN, the CEO of DAZN North America, Joe Markowski, is delighted that the event will be broadcast on the DAZN platform.
“We are incredibly excited to have this mega fight on DAZN around the world. One of the biggest names in boxing meeting one of the biggest names in MMA makes for a truly unique matchup on a global scale.”
Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions (Jake Paul is also co-founder), believes the fight will be once again a commercial success.
“Jake’s star power and popularity continue to command massive audiences worldwide. His most recent bout, Paul vs Fury, surpassed more than 800,000 pay-per-view purchases and was a commercial success for all our partners. Jake remains one of the most avidly followed fighters in the sport and all eyes are on him, wondering what’s next.
“Well, what’s next is one of the most vicious men ever in the cage. I couldn’t be more excited to bring this fight to fruition with two of the most polarizing figures in the game, who have both shown the heart to fight through adversity. We are incredibly proud to work with Nate Diaz, Real Fight, DAZN, and American Airlines Center to showcase this thrilling matchup and have no doubt that Paul vs Diaz will be the hottest ticket in Dallas this summer.”
Following the announcement, Jake Paul has already stated distastefully that the August 5th contest with Diaz will “commemorate the funeral for Nathaniel Diaz as we send him in casket back to Dana (White, UFC president). Failing to acknowledge the dangers, risks and consequences of professional prizefighting.
