Ioka Reflects On Draw To Franco

One of the best Japanese boxers of all-time Kazuto Ioka wasn’t thrilled with performance on Saturday night, in a unification super flyweight fight as he saw himself and Joshua Franco fight to a twelve round majority draw at the Tokyo General Gymnasium.

Two judges saw at 114-114, and one awarded the fight to Franco at 115-113. The result saw Franco keep his WBA title, and Ioka keep his WBO title.

"I would like to apologize for being unable to live up to your expectations," Ioka said. "I thought I had an advantage midway through the contest. His technique and mental strength kept me from showing a clear difference."

The rematch seems to be inevitable, and for Franco we could be looking at his third trilogy in his short career as another good fight could set the table for a third fight.
