It’s fight week for Matchroom Boxing & DAZN as they bring a super lightweight feature live from the Caribe Royale in Orlando, FL. Undefeated contender Richardson Hitchins (16-0, 7 KOs) wants to thrust himself into title contention with all of the big names in the division, but he first has to get by Jose Zepeda (37-3, 28 KOs). This won’t be easy, which makes this fight intriguing and one to watch on Saturday night.
The Brooklyn, NY native Hitchins hasn’t had the push he desired early in his career, but now, with Matchroom, they believe he will be ready for a title shot soon or at least a top-five contender. In February, Hitchins earned a unanimous decision over John Bauza, who was previously undefeated. Whether Hitchins can do the same against a dangerous opponent like Zepeda is still yet to be determined.
On the other hand, although dangerous, the 34-year-old Zepeda may enter gatekeeper status if he cannot beat the young Hitchins. Zepeda earned a unanimous decision in March against Neeraj Goyat and will look to beat Hitchins and seek another shot at a title.
