Hearn on Fury vs. Joshua

Recently it was made public that Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions are pursuing a mega-fight between WBC and lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, and British boxing superstar Anthony Joshua, with a rumored date of December 3rd being the targeted date.

Eddie Hearn took time from this week’s mega-fight week of Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin to speak on the exciting heavyweight fight that has fight fans buzzing.

“We signed for the fight before,” Hearn explained to FightHype.com, on their popular YouTube channel. “We never pulled out of that fight. We signed for the undisputed fight and it fell through because of a legal case with Wilder, the arbitration. We’ll see. I’m hopeful. We’ve been here before. We agreed to terms.”

The news broke earlier this week when a tweet was sent out by Anthony Joshua’s management company.

“258 and @MatchroomBoxing can confirm, on behalf of @anthonyjoshua, that we accepted all terms presented to us by Fury’s team for a fight Dec 3rd last Friday,” which was posted to 258, the management company of Anthony Joshua.

Joshua is coming off two losses to Oleksandr Usyk, with his most recent loss prompting a near nervous breakdown in the ring after the fight. Fury stopped Dillian Whyte, in a heavyweight bout - both fights were on PPV for the U.K., while Usyk v. Joshua II was on DAZN sans pay-per-view, whereas Fury’s last fight was on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

“AJ can’t do anymore. He’s ready to fight,” said Hearn. “But I don’t want to downplay it. I don’t want to accuse anyone of anything. I wanna try and make the fight. So let’s see.”
