Hamzah Sheeraz Demolishes River Wilson-Bent With Second Round Stoppage

Hamzah Sheeraz exploded further into the spotlight with an explosive stoppage against River Wilson-Bent inside two rounds successfully defending his WBC silver middleweight title and claiming the Commonwealth title in the process. The undefeated Sheeraz stated that he would have an early night and he certainly delivered on his words. Sheeraz v Wilson-Bent served as the co-main event to Zach Parker v John Ryder’s interim WBO super-middleweight title contest at the 02 Arena, London.

Round one saw Sheeraz dominate from the off with hard jabs and rights and it was evident to see that there was a gulf of class between the pair. Wilson-Bent wobbled for virtually all of the round with Sheeraz landing at will with the referee already taking looks at possibly calling the bout off already.

Sheeraz started the second like he started the second round just like the first on the front foot landing a right hand within the first 10 seconds and following up with a barrage of punches which ended up with Bent smothering the work of Sheraaz stifling the work of Sheeraz however it was in vain. Sheeraz sent a battered, bruised cut Bent, to the canvas in the corner following an unanswered five-punch combination with only seconds remaining of the round. A depleted Bent looked to the corner and referee Victor Loughlin did not like what he saw and waved off the contest with only five seconds left of the round.

Sheeraz extends his unbeaten record to seventeen and further heightens his reputation as one of Britain’s rising stars.
