Gennadiy Golovkin has one less belt and one less mandatory challenger.
Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com found out the IBF middleweight title will be vacant as Golovkin will not look defend his title against unbeaten mandatory challenger Esquiva Falcao.
Though it is unclear who will be mandated for the vacant shot, the number two contender per the IBF rankings is Michael Zerafa, which should make the vacant bout Esquiva Falcao vs. Michael Zerafa for the belt.
Golovkin’s other mandatory is to consolidate the WBA middleweight title with secondary world champion, Erislandy Lara.
