Fury-Usyk rescheduled for May 18 following ‘freak’ Fury cut

The undisputed heavyweight title fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury has been rescheduled for May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

They were due to fight on February 17, but the WBC champion Fury sustaining a cut above his right eye during sparring forced a second postponement of an occasion first organised for December 23.

It had been reported that Fury could be replaced on February 17 by Filip Hrgovic, but Fury’s co-promoters Queensberry Promotions have revealed that their leading fighter and Usyk – the IBF, WBA and WBO champion – will still fight first.

“New Fury-Usyk date,” the promotional organisation of Frank Warren posted on social media. Usyk, incidentally, reposted another post with the same details.

“The undisputed heavyweight championship fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk has been rescheduled for May 18th in Riyadh.”
