Fury - Chisora To Run It Back For A Third Time, December 3rd

WBC & Lineal World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will fight his twice former dance partner Derek Chisora for a third time scheduled for December 3rd at New White Heart Lane Stadium, London. The contest was formally announced at a press conference hosted by promoters Frank Warren & Bob Arum and will be broadcast on BT Sport and ESPN respectively.

The announcement of the contest also gives clarity to the future of Tyson Fury who after the previous halting of negotiations between unified rival Oleksandr Usyk and the collapse of talks with another British rival Anthony Joshua. Fury had been wanting to challenge either of those two particularly Joshua of which would have wetted the appetite of the British public. We may possibly never know the truth behind those conversations with tit-for tat coming from the promoters of both fighters muddying waters.

However, Fury and Chisora have met twice before with Fury winning both encounters firstly in 2011 winning via unanimous points verdict to claim both British and Commonwealth titles. The original re-run saw the pairing contest an final elimininator in 2014 which saw Fury win in dominat fashion with Chisora ultimately being withdrawn at the end of the tenth round. Victory saw Fury become mandatory for Wladimir Klitschko and claim British and European heavyweight titles in the process.

Chisora is riding the crest of a wave following some years in obscurity with inactivity which came to a head with an abject performance in defeat to Agit Kabayel in 2017. Since then even in defeat, Chisora has improved and has claimed victories against Carlos Takam, Artur Szpilka, David Price and Kubrat Pulev. This is alongside valiant efforts against Oleksandr Usyk and Jospeh Parker. Losing narrowly on points on those occasions. Despite Chisoras’s advancing years, this is the best version of Chisora which Fury will encounter.

“I am thrilled to be delivering a Tyson Fury world title defense in front of the British fans in London,” said promoter Frank Warren. “Tyson clearly conquered America across his trilogy with Deontay Wilder and there is also huge demand to stage his fights from sites across the world.

“Tyson wanted to fight in his home country again this year following his special night at Wembley Stadium in April. This brings us to the magnificent Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and a match against an old rival in Derek Chisora.

“Derek, also a big favorite with British fans, has reinvented himself in recent years and Tyson has long stated his wish to fight him for a third time.

“Tyson can’t afford any slip-up in this fight as he has the much-publicized undisputed match-up with Usyk in the New Year which we’re really looking forward to.”

Frank Warren alos confirmed that Danile Dubois will also make the maiden defence of his WBA (regular) world title.

"I am also delighted that we have added Daniel Dubois to the card with a first defense of his WBA belt against Kevin Lerena. It makes it a real heavyweight night, and Daniel represents the best of the new generation coming through."
