Golden Boy prospect Kid Austin hints his next fight is against 'JoJo' Diaz

Golden Boy Promotions super prospect Floyd 'Kid Austin' Schofield hinted on social media this week that he'll be fighting Joseph 'JoJo' Diaz next.

"Thank you Joseph Diaz for accepting [the fight]," Schofield said on Facebook. "Let's get ready to put on a great show."

Golden Boy has built events around the respective star power of athletes like Ryan Garcia, Jaime Munguia, Vergil Ortiz, and Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez, while also signing new stars such as Arnold Barboza Jr. and Jose Ramirez.

Schofield, though, is their blue chip talent and a young fighter the company seems to be building its future around.

The 21-year-old, born in New Jersey, resides in Austin, Texas, and has built a pro record of 16 wins (12 KOs). He remains unbeaten.

He debuted in 2020 and fought only once that year but in the years since has been steadily climbing the world 135-pound rankings.

Speaking to ProBox TV and other reporters recently, Golden Boy founder Oscar de la Hoya tipped the young star as "the hardest working freaking athlete in the business today."

He told us: "He's got muscles on top of muscles."

De la Hoya's partner Bernard Hopkins, who has been visiting Schofield in the gym, said the fighter wants to box a championship-caliber opponent already.

Should he defeat Diaz, he will be well on his way to becoming one of the sport's breakout fighters of 2024.

"Ready for battle," said Schofield on his Facebook page. "We are locked and loaded for this fight."
