British heavyweight champion, Fabio Wardley, went head to head with domestic rival David Adeleye at today’s press conference for Anthony Joshua’s anticipated return against Jermaine Franklin. The undefeated British duo, Wardley & Adeleye, have been calling each other out via social media in recent weeks, with Adeleye seeking to contest the British heavyweight title which Wardley possesses.
The confrontation was friendly enough between the pair, which was captured by Matchroom boxing on Instagram.
Adeleye introduced himself to Wardley with “What’s happening, Fabio.” before the pair shook hands and began discussing a possible fight between themselves.
Wadley is open to the contest and said it needs to happen before saying that it happens on broadcaster Dazn. Adeleye quashed that request by saying, “nobody watches DAZN. Let’s get it on BT Sports because no one watches DAZN.”
Wardley then asks when Adeleye can be ready to fight, to which Adeleye responds by saying, “I want to be your next fight.”
Adeleye then insists that there is no malice towards Wardley before the pair shake hands, with each fighter wishing the other the best.
One interested observer in the shape of unbeaten heavyweight and Tokyo 2020 medalist Frazer Clarke said any fight between Wardley and Adeleye would be like a “novice under 10’s final.”
