Eubank Jr targeting Benn, Brook and Golovkin following stoppage win over Smith

Chris Eubank Jr. is targeting bigger and better things in the near future following his tenth-round stoppage victory over Liam Smith at the Manchester arena this past Saturday.

Eubank Jr secured redemption over Smith following a fourth-round knockout defeat to his Liverpudlian rival in January, losing inside four rounds at the same venue.

In a complete contrast of performances from Eubank Jr, the contest was dominated by the Brighton-based middleweight in a controlled and measured manner following his link-up with Brian McIntyre to handle his training. Eubank Jr would secure knockdowns in rounds four and ten before the referee waved off the contest just after the midway point of the tenth frame of a scheduled twelve.

Immediately post-fight, Eubank Jr. focused on bigger things than pursuing another rematch with Smith. Chris named who he wanted to face next, predominantly Conor Benn, Kell Brook and Gennady Golovkin.

“There are some big names out there. I see a few of these guys in the crowd. I’m coming for you, Conor, I’m coming for you, Kell. I’m coming for you. Anybody else who wants it, we’re going to put on a show for the fans,” Eubank said.

Eubank Jr. and Benn had been set to face each other on October 5th at London’s 02 Arena, but the contest fell apart on fight week due to two failed anti-doping tests for the substance Clomiphene on behalf of Benn. However, those issues have been cleared by the UK’s independent anti-doping panel. However, they are still subject to an appeal by the British Boxing Board of Control and United Kingdom Anti-Doping.

Former IBF world welterweight champion Brook, meanwhile, has been retired since his February 2022 victory over Amir Khan.

Eubank Jr. continued to add that he also wants to face former unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin while in the same breath insinuating that Golovkin is still a middleweight title holder incorrectly.

“I want to fight GGG. I don’t know where he is right now, but wherever you are, Gennady, you’ve been holding onto their belts for too long. I want to take one, so let’s get that on if we can,” Eubank said.
