Exclusive: Errol Spence Jr. signs new management deal with Fighters First Management

With the news of Errol Spence Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) facing Terence Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) on July 29th in Las Vegas, NV, at the T-Mobile Arena official, some other dominoes will fall, and more announcements will be released. It was announced today that Spence Jr. has signed a deal with Fighters First Management. This is a huge announcement for the company that launched a little under two years ago and is led by the CEO Adrian Clark.

For those who don’t know Clark, he has represented and advised fighters for years while appearing in the Forbes Magazine “30 under 30” in the sports category. Clark took a short break from representing fighters full-time to work on his passion project he appropriately named “Protect Yourself At All Times: The Beginning,” which premiered on March 30th in front of family and friends at the IPIC Theater Fairview in Texas. While putting together the short film, Clark assumed the position of CEO with Fighters First Management, which also has Jolene Mizzone, who was most notably with Main Events for several years as a matchmaker and many other duties she had during her tenure there.

The relationship between Spence Jr. and Clark started back in 2014, so there was certainly some familiarity before the deal was done. Clark told ProBoxTV, “It’s something we have been working on for quite some time now. Errol (Spence Jr.) and I have always had a good relationship/friendship. I’ve handled a lot of business for him. With me taking this CEO spot, building up Fighters First Management, and the work we have been doing for him on the backend, it just made sense.”

While social media loves to stir the pot about anything related to PBC, Clark made it clear that this isn’t anything more than Spence Jr. adding to his inner circle so that he can continue to raise his brand as a fighter in and out of the ring. “We are both (Clark and Al Haymon) in the Errol Spence Jr. business. We are both looking to do what’s best for Errol Spence Jr.” While the biggest fight in boxing was recently made, Clark wasn’t part of the negotiations for the fight but was kept in the loop of what was being discussed by his new client Spence Jr. “Al (Haymon) took the lead on a lot of things. My dealings are only with Errol (Spence Jr.), so different conversations we’ve had as far as negotiations have been with Errol and me. To say I was directly involved with the negotiations of that fight would not be factual, but in regards to being involved in the decisions of Errol Spence Jr. and what was going on with the fight, I was always fully abreast of the situation.”

Spence Jr. has signed on with Clark ahead of the biggest fight in his career so far. It’s a smart move as Clark is sharp in the management forum and will provide some unique opportunities for Spence Jr. to capitalize on. Now that the news of it has been released, Clark can go to work and start creating those new opportunities for his new client Spence Jr.
