Egis Klimas: Interested in Badou Jack Vs Sergey Kovalev

WBC Cruiserweight World champion Badou Jack recently told ProBox TV News that his most desired fight in the division would be against former two-time light heavyweight world champion Sergey Kovalev.

The 35-4-1 (29 KOs) Russian moved up a weight class last year making a good start on his 200lbs debut with unanimous decision victory over the undefeated Bulgarian, Tervel Pulev.

Kovalev is currently managed by Egis Klimas, who spoke exclusively to the network regarding the subject.

The WBC recently ordered Jack to face mandatory challenger Noel Gevor. However, Jack’s promoters, Skill Challenge Entertainment, have stated that “it is not set in stone” and are keeping options open for their latest signing.

Kovalev had been ordered to face Thabiso Mchunu in a final eliminator for the WBC title in January, but that fight has not been made. Kovalev is now no longer ranked with the governing body.

Jack (28-3-3, 17 KOs) and his team team had also been open to facing former champion Ilunga Junior Makabu in a rematch. What we can expect is for Badou Jack to return to action this September or October in Saudi Arabia under his new promotional outfit in what is likely to be the first defense of his world title.
