Eddie Hearn is intrigued by the idea of recent free-agent Edgar Berlanga joining the Matchroom stable.
“My phone went mad last night with people saying have you signed Edgar Berlanga,” Hearn said when speaking exclusively with Boxing Social. “No, I’ve not had one conversation with Edgar Berlanga or his team. Keith Connolly is his manager I know very well. Good fighter, exciting.”
Berlanga started his career with 16 straight first-round KOs, but has since gone to decision four-times in a row, and has lost a bit of steam over the past two-years.
Hearn’s ideal fight for Berlanga if he were to sign him is clear.
“Look, Canelo Alvarez versus Edgar Berlanga is a massive fight in Mexico and Puerto Rico, but I’ve not had any conversations with him.”
