Dib welcome at Tszyu-Harrison after being cleared of cancer

Billy Dib has been invited to attend Sunday's light middleweight fight between his fellow Australian Tim Tszyu and Tony Harrison, having declared that he is remission from cancer.

The 37-year-old former IBF featherweight champion learned that he had stomach cancer in October 2022. He had previously thought that he had beaten the condition, when a tumour was removed, but he was later diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's, Burkitt lymphoma cancer.

Alongside a post in which his son held a sign that read, "Hi guys, my dad is in remission", Dib wrote on Twitter: "AlhamdAllah (thanks to God), I received the most beautiful news today. My scan came back clear of cancer.

Dib has remained admirably visible on social media throughout the process of his treatment. Should he attend Tszyu-Harrison, at Sydney's Olympic Park, he will be back in a boxing environment a week short of a year since his past fight – against Jacob Ng in Broadbeach.

"It’s not just for Billy Dib the boxer," Tszyu told Fox Sports. "It’s because of the person he is.

"Billy has such a kind heart. Has always been there to support me. So if he wants to come this Sunday I want to have him there."
