Mere weeks ahead of a scheduled clash between Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr, a rematch of their fight earlier this year, that saw Haney become the undisputed world champion of the lightweight division, Haney gave his take on a mythical fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis.
“I don’t know. Right now, I’m favoring Ryan Garcia but Tank obviously has that one-punch knockout power. But Ryan does too. Ryan’s much bigger, Ryan’s faster but Tank got way more experience than him,” said Haney. “I think that's a good ass fight.”
Whether Haney gets to fight either Ryan Garcia or Gervonta Davis, he is not all that optimistic.
“I don’t think either one of them are going to fight each other,” said Haney in a media scrum. “I would be surprised if it happens. I mean, it’s boxing, anything can happen but I would be surprised.”
Haney who fights on October 16th in Australia, but on October 15th for U.S. fight fans on ESPN, will look to defend his titles, and fulfill his contractual obligation in rematching George Kambosos Jnr, something that was required for him to get the fight in the first place.
