Devin Haney is declaring a demolition job of Ryan Garcia once they fight on April 20.
“I'm going to beat the s*** out of him,” said Haney. “I’m going to beat him so bad we won’t need a rematch. The world won’t want to see a rematch.”
Haney has been on a remarkable run since 2020, beating the likes of Regis Prograis, Vasiliy Lomachenko, George Kambosos Jr. (twice), Joseph Diaz Jr., Jorge Linares, and Yuriorkis Gamboa.
Along the way, the 25-year-old Haney has earned undisputed lightweight title honors and is currently the WBC super lightweight champion and pound-for-pound one of the best in the sport.
The nine-year pro based in Las Vegas envisioned his ascent all along.
“This is a dream come true of mine. I always dreamed of being here one day and now I am finally here,” said Haney. “I worked so hard to get here. I sacrificed a lot to be here. On April 20, the world will see, and my hard work will pay off.
“The world hasn't seen the best of Devin Haney. Every fight I'm getting better and better.”
The fight promotion has taken an awkward turn due to Garcia’s erratic outbursts and behavior. Haney expressed that he hasn’t been pleased with Garcia's histrionics.
“I have respect for Ryan. We shared the ring six times as kids, we came up together. But over [the promotion], I have lost a lot of respect for him … I am a true professional in everything that I do.
“This guy is a f***ing clown – him and his family. And I'm getting this guy out of boxing.”
