Devin Haney, the undisputed lightweight world champion, was on hand in Saudi Arabia, as Jake Paul looks to get the most marquee win of his career against Tommy Fury on Sunday, February 26th, live onESPN pay-per-view in the United States.
Haney who is rumored to be facing Vasiliy Lomachenko in May, possibly on pay-per-view, was a guest of honor at the event and saw the antics, up-close and personal.
“I thought it was a good press conference it got me more excited for the fight,“ said Devin Haney when talking with IFL TV. “I thought it was going to be a good fight, but I [think] it will be an even better fight now.”
Haney sat next to boxing legend and hall-of-famer, Mike Tyson, as Jake Paul and Tommy Fury entertained the crowd with their back-and-forth at answers at the press conference that kept things lively.
“Jake has shown that he has fought some former MMA world champions, and what-not,” said Haney of the match up. “Fury has the experience behind him with [boxing] being in his bloodline…I think Jake [Paul] wins, but I think it will be a tougher fight than what people think."
As for Haney, he was rather open about the ongoing negations to his next contracted bout which should be against Vasiliy Lomachenko.
“[the fight] is very close. Everything is pretty much agreed on, and now we’re just looking for the [venue], and it is very much possible that the fight might be in [Saudi Arabia],” said Haney about upcoming bout with Lomachenko. “It should be announced soon.”
