David Benavidez Is Frustrated

Despite holding a form of the WBC super middleweight world title, and fighting everyone put in front of him, David Benavidez is visibly frustrated at the fight he is getting.

Benavidez is strongly rumored to face former world champion Jose Uzcategui next, has made it clear he wants one of the biggest names in the sport soon.

“I’m trying to make the fight with Caleb Plant, I’m trying to make the fight with [expletive]’ Morrell, Charlo. I thought we were gonna make the fight with Morrell in November, December, now they’re saying he has to take a mandatory, “ said Benavidez to FightHype.com “..which is [expletive] [expletive], because if they wanted to fight me PBC would’ve made the fight right there. I feel like everybody wins right there.”

Benavidez is frustrated as well as despite becoming a multiple time world champion as well as defeating Anthony Dirrell years ago, he can’t seemingly land a big fight against a marquee opponent who is in their prime. Benavidez last fight was a three-round destruction of former world champion David Lemieux, which has been his lone fight in 2022.

Recently, Canelo Alvarez stated he doesn’t want to fight a Mexican fighter in the future. A statement that bothered many, as two of the most interesting fights for Canelo in the future are David Benavidez and Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez.

Roy Jones Jr., the Hall of Fame boxer, talked about this on a piece of exclusive content released for ProBox TV, as he expanded his thoughts on Jose Benavidez Sr.’s thoughts on whether Canelo Alvarez is avoiding David Benavidez.

“I agree with him [Jose Benavidez Sr], how are you going to tell me after you beat Julio Cesar Chavez [Jr.], that you don’t fight Mexicans,” questioned Roy Jones Jr. “Nah bruh, we ain’t buying that. What that is that you don’t want to fight [David Benavidez] in a sense, so I agree with [Jose Benavidez Sr.].”

Jones continued in the clip to explain that Canelo has fought the son of the greatest Mexican boxer, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but now is being rather exclusive in terms of who he is facing.

Regardless of any opinion on the subject, David Benavidez is one of the best fighters in the world, and we hope to see him in a compelling fight soon.
