David Benavidez Frustrated With Canelo Alvarez

Super middleweight contender David Benavidez is frustrated.

The secondary champion of the at the super middleweight division holding the interim title, is frustrated as he feels he is the most avoided fighter in his division, and being punished for it.

“Everything [Canelo] was saying is bullshit,” said Benavidez to BoxingScene.com. “There’s rankings in the WBC for a reason. I've won two back-to-back title eliminators for a reason and won the interim belt. Man, that’s the fight everybody is talking about. Who f------ cares if I fought one world champion. If I’m so easy like he says and he’s not scared to beat me, come beat me.”

Benavidez is responding comments made by Canelo Alvarez prior.

“What he accomplished? Nothing [SIC],” said Alvarez recently to a group of reporters. “One single champion, Anthony Dirrell.”

Benavidez’s next fight against Jose Uzcategui, rumored to be in January of 2023, is far from a tasty match-up, and the backlash is probably furthering the frustration for Benavidez.

“What I have to do is keep winning and the fight is eventually going to happen. I’m going to be extremely ready for when that happens.”

For Benavidez, he simply wants an opportunity against the biggest names in the sport, and it seems no one is eager to face him.
