David Benavidez Doesn’t Understand Why Canelo Won’t Fight Him

Demetrius Andrade recently showed frustration towards Canelo Alvarez, and now add David Benavidez to the list as well.

Canelo, who held the spot of the best fighter in the world for several years prior to losing to Dmitry Bivol, and being a part of a true stinker in his third fight with Gennadiy Golovkin, now seems rather uninterested in facing Benavidez.

“It just doesn’t really make any sense,” said Benavidez when brought on as a guest for The Last Stand with Brian Custer. “I been winning title eliminators, I just won an interim title. I feel like a lot of people now don’t respect the boxing ranks. If you don’t respect the boxing ranks, what are the boxing ranks for?”

Benavidez, who is rumored to face Caleb Plant this year, though no date has been announced, has been chasing down mandatory opponents to force a fight with himself and Canelo Alvarez.

“I’m the number one guy, I’m the mandatory. I think he’s just talking a lot of shit because he doesn’t want to see me. He knows I’m the biggest threat at 168.”
