David Benavidez Doesn’t See Edgar Berlanga At The Elite Level

Super middleweight David Benavidez is being rumored to be in a huge fight in 2023 against rival Caleb Plant.

Though Benavidez has had many title reigns, he has yet to get the big fights until hopefully 2023.

At one point, it looked as though Edgar Berlanga and David Benavidez could met at some point in the future. Yet, Benavidez is unimpressed.

“He’s not getting any better bro to be honest with you,” said Berlanga when speaking to BoxingScene.com. “It can still be a mega fight but he just fought Angulo, a person I fought a couple fights ago and he had a really hard time with him.”

Benavidez stopped Roamer Alexis Angulo in the 10th round, Berlanga went 10- hard fought with Angulo in a very close fight. The fight also ended Berlanga’s 2022 campaign as he was suspended due to biting his opponent as he was fined and suspended for six months.

“I wish nothing but the best for Edgar Berlanga but I don’t really feel like he’s on that level right now,” concluded Benavidez.
