David Benavidez: Caleb Plant Is Scared…,He’s Been Knocked Out Before

After a tense press conference for Caleb Plant and David Benavidez, which will take place at the super middleweight division, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Live on pay-per-view, Benavidez was not holding his tongue afterward.

“[Caleb Plant] is scared, his eyes were all glassy, it looked like he was about to cry,” said David Benavidez after the press conference when conducting a media scrum. “When his trainer came up and talked he was real quiet, real subtle, he didn’t want to make a big deal, because they don’t have confidence in themselves. I know exactly what I am going to do. He has been knocked out before, and I know I can knock him out. I have hurt everyone I have ever been in the ring with.”

Benavidez, who is a three-time WBC super middleweight world champion will look to defend his interim title against Plant, the former IBF super middleweight champion, who lost his title to Canelo Alvarez in 2021. The winner will be mandated as the next fight for Canelo Alvarez.

“When you get into a fight like this, it is a big moment, everyone is going crazy,” said Benavidez about all the antics around this fight. “People talk down about this type of behavior, but honestly this what people want to see; they want to see two guys who really don’t like each other.”

The feud in fact has carried over into the camps as now, the team photographers for both camps, had an odd brawl-like encounter that was documented on FightHype.com's YouTube channel.

It is clear that with so much distain from both sides, this fight is one of the bouts you have to watch in 2023.
