Lewis Crocker 3 pounds over the weight limit ahead of Jose Felix bout in Belfast

Lewis Crocker (18-0, 10 KOs) has weighed in 3 pounds over the 147 pound limit ahead of his clash with Jose Felix (40-6-1, 31 KOs), the headline act for Matchroom’s DAZN broadcast in Belfast.

Crocker stripped naked to sheepishly hit the scale at 150 pounds. Felix came in at 146.6 pounds. Felix appeared un-shocked and unfazed by the fact his opponent was well over 3 pounds heavier.

The pair were scheduled to challenge for the WBO inter-continental welterweight title over 10 rounds, that belt will now only be on the line for Felix.

Matchroom CEO, Frank Smith explained the situation on the Matchroom official broadcast:

“Earlier in the week as always, the BBBofC do their check weights. Lewis Crrocker didn’t manage to do that check weight, so there was a weight limit set that he couldn’t come below. Felix’s team were aware, he wanted the opportunity and wanted to make 147 still to win the title. The title will still be one the line for Jose, but unfortunately not for Lewis. It is one of those rules for the safety of the boxers that the BBBofC put in place, but we got a great fight ahead of us.”

The chief support will London’s Cheavon Clarke (7-0, 5 KOs) take on local man Tommy McCarthy (20-5, 10 KOs) over 10 rounds at cruiserweight, with a WBA regional belt on the line. Clarke weighed in at 199.6 pounds, with McCarthy not far away at 199.4 pounds.

Irish sensation Paddy Donovan (12-0, 9 KOs) takes on Argentina’s Williams Andres Herrera (15-2, 6 KOs). Herrera came in at 146.6 pounds, Donovan followed at 146.35 pounds.
