DAZN Boxing heads to the Motor City of Detroit, MI, as they host a card headlined by a women’s undisputed middleweight title fight. The P4P Queen Claressa Shields (13-0, 2 KOs) puts her titles on the line against the #1 middleweight contender Maricela Cornejo (16-5, 6 KOs). The event looks to have up to 15,000 fans in attendance at the Little Ceasars Arena to watch these two women battle for middleweight supremacy.
The champion Shields is coming off of a huge victory across the pond against Savannah Marshall (12-1, 10 KOs) in a fight that had many storylines going into it. Although a rematch could not be secured, Shields moved on and was headed towards a second fight with Hanna Gabriels (22-2-1, 12 KOs) until she tested positive for a banned substance. The next fighter available happens to be the top contender for the crown, so Cornejo will look to dethrone the Queen.

Cornejo hasn’t been the most active fighter, with one fight in 2022 and a recent one in March. In that fight, Cornejo secured a first-round TKO against Sheila Cunha (0-1). Cornejo was once a buzzing name in women’s boxing, but her momentum died down a bit after a couple of losses and time away from the ring. Cornejo then made some lifestyle changes captured on her Instagram account, leading to her now being in great shape. Cornejo has the opportunity to become the Queen overnight but must do it in front of a pro-Shields crowd.
