Chris Eubank Jr Exercises Rematch Clause With Liam Smith

Chris Eubank Jr. took to social media on Valentine’s Day no less to express that he will exercise his rematch clause against Liam Smith.

In January, Chris Eubank Jr., was knocked out in the fourth-round by Liam Smith. The result shocked the sport to its core.

“This morning I activated the rematch clause via my lawyers & sent to my promoters @Wasserman [Boxing],” Eubank said through an issued statement via his Twitter page. “Happy Valentine’s Day @LiamBeefySmith.”

No date or venue have been named, but Eubank Jr., who entered the first fight as a 3-to-1 favorite prior his January 21st loss to Smith, will now look for vindication. The previous bout also was put on by Sky Sports Box Office, a pay-per-view service, and

Their Sky Sports Box Office main event was competitive through three rounds, until Smith blasted Eubank with a left uppercut and then a left hook that caused the first knockdown of Eubank’s career 45 seconds into the fourth round. A stunned Eubank reached to his feet quickly, yet he couldn’t stand up straight.

After the fight, Liam Smith said the following.

“I feel great after a win like that,” said Liam Smith three weeks ago directly after the fight in a post-fight press conference. “To do something that basically everyone said I couldn’t do, obviously it ranks up there with the best nights of my career.”
