Charles Martin Wants Joshua Rematch, Says “…he never fought the real me”

Former IBF heavyweight world champion wants another chance at Anthony Joshua, as Joshua stopped Martin back in 2016, a fight that saw Anthony Joshua become a world champion for the first time.

"Joshua needs a win in the USA, at Madison Square Garden, and I need a shot at redemption. I don't care about the money with Joshua, just the revenge. I've always said that. Joshua knows exactly what I mean after losing to Ruiz and Usyk. I want to fight him so badly before I retire, just to show him he never fought the real me," Martin said with an interview with Sky Sports. "I gave AJ a shot at the title and that changed his life forever - it's time for him to return the favor. I am just trying to stay busy and make one more run at the title.”

Charles Martin who lost to Luis Ortiz in a pay-per-view fight that aptly started off 2022, which might be known as “the year of the pay-per-view”, rebounded with a win over Devin Vargas on September 4th in Los Angeles, California. With a name in the division, and being a former world champion, Martin wants a chance against the top fighters, or at least redemption against Anthony Joshua, whom he gave a big fight to years ago, though for huge finical gain as well.

Martin, who fairly obviously at the end of the road in terms of his career wants one last chance to get a big fight, and given his history with Anthony Joshua, and Joshua’s recent slew of losses to Oleksandr Usyk, Martin is trying to put himself in position to get a big fight against a big name fighter looking for redemption.
