Thomas Carty, Heavyweight, Matchroom, Dublin,

Ireland’s Thomas Carty collided with England’s Dan Garber at heavyweight in an eight round bout.

The first round was slightly frustrating for the hometown man who was just off with his shots landing. The second round saw a similar turn of events with Carty doing his best to close the space.

In the third round Carty would start to land his shots with more precision. Carty landed a big overhand right inside the first minute of the fourth and landed a body shot with a minute to play. Carty was starting to assert his pressure landing another right hand with just over 30 seconds left in the round.

In round seven Carty had Garber pinned in the corner as he launched a big attack landing big shots to the body.

Carty dropped Garber to the canvas in the closing moments of the bout to claim the knockout victory. Carty let loose with a destructive multiple shot combination involving right hooks, left hooks and uppercuts. Garber didn’t have a second to breathe as the Irishman was intent on claiming the stoppage victory. The official time of the stoppage was 2.19 in the eighth and final round.

Carty’s record improves to 7-0 (6 KOs), with Garber’s record moving to 5-2, picking up a first knockout defeat in the process
