Kansas City’s Jorge and Izak Carlos are set to top a bill together for the first time as professionals, at Harrah’s Casino in Kansas City on Aug. 10.
The Carlos brothers are both decorated amateurs who recently started their pro careers. While Jorge has won national championships in the US and Mexico, Izak won silver at the USA boxing nationals and National Golden gloves to qualify for the Olympic trials. Izak ultimately turned pro after falling short at the trials.
Jorge was recently scheduled to box on July 20 for Hyper Promotions but lost the opportunity to headline a card at home with his brother when an opponent couldn't be secured in Chicago.
Jorge, 7-0 (6 KOs), is now eager to headline a card that also features his younger brother in front of his hometown crowd again.
“So, when the opportunity arose to not only be on a show at home with my younger brother but also to headline the main event, we shifted focus to this fight,” Jorge said.
“I’m really excited to fight in front of my hometown crowd, but also being on the card with Izak as professionals for the first time is a really awesome opportunity and feels special. “I’m really grateful that we get to perform for all of our friends, family, and supporters.”
Izak is also looking forward to sharing the spotlight with his brother.
“I’m heading into my second fight as a professional, and it’s really cool having my brother on the same card. We fought on the same shows as amateurs, but getting to do it as professionals is a unique experience very few fighters get to have,” Izak added.
“We both spent time for this camp training out in Vegas at Salas Boxing Academy and we’re feeling really sharp. I’m excited for us to get to show our hometown fans what Team Carlos has been working on.”
Mike Leanardi, who manages Jorge Carlos alongside Tanner Gill, said: “We’re excited Jorge gets to showcase his skills and progress back at home in front of his loyal supporters.
“He has a big fan base in KC and it’s our goal to grow that fanbase nationwide as Jorge continues to grow as a fighter.”
