Canelo Honored With Statue In Mexico

The undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez was honored with a statute of himself in Juanacatlán, Mexico today in which they revealed the statue of the famed Mexican fighter. 

“It is a great honor for me to be recognized in the place that saw me grow and made me the person I am today,” Alvarez stated publicly via his Instagram. “Thanks to the government of Juanacatlán for this recognition and to all the people who attended.”

Alvarez, who is the biggest Mexican boxer in terms of popularity since Julio Cesar Chavez, elaborated more.

“I'm proud of being here, with all the people that made this possible, to build a statue in my honor. I'm proud, and it’s proof that dreams come true,” said Alvarez.

Canelo is a sure-fire hall-of-famer, and the statue seems to be one of many feature tributes to the great fighter.
