After a unique press conference for Caleb Plant and David Benavidez, ahead of their bout which will take place at the super middleweight division, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Live on pay-per-view, Plant downplayed the antics.
"It seems a lot of the stuff [David Benavidez] was saying was a little cringy, people in the crowd were trying to figure out what he was saying, he has a lot to say ‘okay, cool,’ but talking don’t get it done..[SIC],” said Plant in a media scrum after the press conference.“
For Plant who is coming off a contender for knockout of the year with his KO of Anthony Dirrell on Showtime pay-per-view, this fight also gives him potentially a second shot at Canelo Alvarez, the only man who has beaten Plant thus far. That said, the story of this fight so far is simply how much the two don’t like each other.
“I think it goes to show, his photographer coming up and pushing ours, its just a whole lot of tough guy ra-ra stuff,” said Plant when asked about his photographer getting into with David Benavidez’s photographer. “Even this morning, when we got here they was waiting in the lobby, and they wanted to come up to the car, but all this all these cameras, security guards, this is a controlled environment, it easy to act tough in a controlled environment.”
The two will come to blows on March 25th, on Showtime pay-per-view, in one of the must-see-bouts of the first quarter.
