Fresh off the news that BOXXER will have their U.S. cards streamed by NBC/Peacock, light heavyweight contender Joshua Buatsi (17-0, 13 KOs) will face fellow undefeated fighter Dan Azeez (20-0, 13 KOs) in a12-roundd fight live from the O2 Arena in the United Kingdom. This fight will see the winner advance to a potential fight with Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs) or Artur Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs) as soon as next year.
The 30-year-old Buatsi last fought in May, earning a unanimous decision over Pawel Stepien (18-1-1, 12 KOs). Buatsi had only one fight last year, so he must stay active, especially if he can land one of the champions next year with a win over Azeez. This type of fight will show the fans what he is made of, and with it streaming on Peacock, a big win would go a long way.
This will be Azeez’s third fight this year, but he is also 34 years old and knows that the time is now to see if he can get to a title shot. Azeez had back-to-back decision victories this year, so it’ll be interesting to see if the busier Azeez will look sharper or burned out especially at his age.
