‘Brought together by faith’ Daniel Dubois and Don Charles confident ahead of title clash against Oleksandr Usyk

After recently leaving Shane Mcguigan, WBA regular world champion Daniel Dubois (19-1 18 KOs) united with veteran trainer Don Charles in preparation for his upcoming title bout against the undefeated world champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0 13 KOs), as ordered by the WBA, taking place on Saturday 26th August 2023 in Wroclaw, Poland. However, no official announcement has been made by Usyk's promoters K2 Promotions.

In an exclusive interview with ProBox TV, Dubois and Charles explained how their alliance happened at the adequate moment in the career of Dubois, ahead of his bout in August. “My dad had got in touch with Don and it was meant to be, it was one of them things that fall into place, now we’re here and I feel like Don is what I need right now starting this stage in my career.” Dubois explained. “These things are meant to be, it happens for a reason.”

“We were brought together by faith,” Charles added to Dubois’s statement with conviction. Dubois in agreement then spoke about how camp was going “training’s going well and I’m feeling really confident. I know it’s a big task but I’m ready for it.” Charles then responded. “We made alterations as Usyk is a southpaw, so we have to make provisions, but other than that it’s business as usual.”

Coming off a TKO victory in the 3rd round against South Africa’s Kevin Lerena, Dubois will next challenge Usyk for his WBA, WBO and IBF world titles. Dubois goes into the biggest fight of his career determined to make a statement against one of the world's very best fighters.

Dubois declared to ProBox TV. “It’s a big task we’ve got ahead of us, I know everyone’s writing me off already, but you know I’m the underdog, there’s no pressure on me. I’m 100% ready for it.”

Real chemistry between trainer and fighter was evident between the two, as Charles reciprocated Dubois’s confidence mutually when asked about what the public were to expect in August. “We’re fully committed to the task ahead and it’s been written for Daniel Dubois to be victorious.” Charles and Dubois both proclaimed. “We’re going to pull it off”.

Charles affirmed. “People will not expect him to do that. He and the team expect him to be victorious on the 26th of August.”
