The British Boxing Board of Control have prohibited the anticipated encounter between Chris Eubank Jr & Conor Benn scheduled for the 8th of October from going ahead. This no throws serious doubts into the actual fight from going ahead due to a failed VADA drug test from Conor Been which took place in September according to reports. Promoters Wasserman Boxing & Matchroom Boxing have stated that the fight will continue to go ahead following the initial news of the failed test however the British Boxing Board of Control have issued the following statement.
However what it means by “Prohibited” is not clear due to the BBBofC’s testing being conducted by UKAD and not VADA which means he is not currently suspended by the BBBofC but the statement that “It is not in the best interests of boxing” does clearly state the BBBofC opinions on the situation.
Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom has confirmed that lawyers are now involved to find a solution for the fight to go ahead.
