Blair Cobbs has been on a media tour as of late and been saying that Vergil Ortiz is a dirty fighter.
Now Ortiz is firing back as he has sent Cobbs a legal notice.
Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com confirmed that Weintraub Tobin Law Firm has sent a cease-and-desist letter has been issued to Cobbs for his outspoken views on Ortiz and performance-enhancing drugs.
“This firm represents… Vergil Ortiz, Jr. We write in response to your recent defamatory statements and publications on social media concerning Mr. Ortiz,” Jose Escovedo, the attorney representing Ortiz, wrote to Cobbs which was distributed through Golden Boy Promotions via legal letter, one that Donovan was able to gain access to. “Without any factual basis and with full knowledge of the rigorous performance enhancing drug (“PED”) testing that professional boxers like you and Mr. Ortiz are subjected to, you’ve made numerous statements claiming that Mr. Ortiz is “using steroids” and is “dirty.”
Digging even deeper, they set a deadline of Monday, January 30th as the deadline for Cobbs to retract these claims and if not a civil lawsuit would ensue.
