Artur Beterbiev had just left the ring minutes after knocking out Anthony Yarde, and seemingly had his next mandatory in line as the WBC mandatory Callum Smith, seemingly is being targeted for the summer, according to Top Rank, vice president, Carl Moretti.
“With Artur Beterbeiv’s win over Anthony Yarde, we now have a number of possibilities for his next fight,” Moretti said to media outlet Le Journal de Montreal. “We would probably be obliged to offer a fight to Callum Smith, the mandatory for the WBC. We would like to stage this fight in Montreal at the end of the summer.”
The hope seems to be to stage an event sometime in the summer, as sadly the Dmitry Bivol bout will probably have to wait.
