Benavidez vs. Uzcategui Set For January

`David Benavidez and Jose Uzcategui are finally going to fight nearly a year-and-a-half after they were originally supposed to fight in a super middleweight bout slated for January, per Mike Coppinger of ESPN.

Uzcategui messed up the money when he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug, described as a form of EPO, in last November forcing him out of the fight as Benavidez would stop Kyrone Davis in the seventh round of their bout.

Benavidez, a 25-year-old power puncher, ran through David Lemieux en route to a third-round knockout in May, his only fight of 2022. Benavidez is targeting and hoping to land big fights in the future and with Caleb Plant’s KO of Anthony Dirrell, if Benavidez wins - hopefully, we get that one.

Benavidez is one of the most exciting fighters in the sport, we just want to see him in meaningful fights, as it feels like far too much of his prime is not being used correctly up until this point.
