We are days away from Thanksgiving and an intriguing super middleweight fight between a boxer and a puncher. Interim WBC super-middleweight champion David Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) will face former WBO middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (32-0, 19 KOs) in a fight that has the potential of being one of the best this year. Will the power-punching Benavidez make a statement with a knockout, or will Andrade put on a boxing master class and put himself in the Canelo Alvarez sweepstakes?
DAVID BENAVIDEZ NEEDS TO DOMINATE ANDRADE & SHOW HE’S THE MAN AT 168 NOT NAMED CANELO

If you ask Benavidez about the Canelo fight, he’ll likely tell you that he’s over chasing the future Hall of Famer, but deep down inside, he knows that this is potentially the fight that makes the public demand an all-Mexican showdown next year. Canelo should fight Benavidez to truly say he is the king, as Benavidez never lost the title. He got mixed into some trouble, and the WBC ended up stripping him or whatever they wanted to name it at the time. Here we are again, where Benavidez is on the brink of a big fight, but he must dominate Andrade, so there is no other option for the Mexican legend Canelo.

What does Benavidez have to do to beat Andrade? He needs to stay patient, cut off the ring without chasing, and apply as much pressure as possible while throwing a high volume of punches. Benavidez is proven to have a motor, but what hasn’t been tested is Andrade at 35 against a high-level fighter and his ability to maintain a high pace all night. Benavidez needs to use his youth and athleticism to dictate the pace, and if he can break Andrade down, a late stoppage isn’t off the table.
DEMETRIUS ANDRADE FINALLY GETS THE FIGHT HE’S ALWAYS WANTED
It seems Andrade hasn’t been a pro for that long, but in reality, the 15-year veteran has seen time pass him by without getting the opportunities he has always felt he deserved. He won the vacant WBO junior middleweight title in 2013 against Vanes Martirosyan, but his boxing style made potential opponents hesitant to share the ring with Andrade, which would lead to lukewarm performances. While this would last through November 2021, he finally decided to move up to super middleweight fourteen months later and defeated Demond Nicholson by unanimous decision.

Now Andrade has the fight he’s always wanted but against the most dangerous opponent he’s ever faced. The problem is that although Andrade is a premier pugilist, he’s also 35 years old and hasn’t faced top-quality opposition. It will be an uphill battle, but Andrade can win if he applies himself correctly.
Andrade needs to do what he doesn’t best, and that’s stink up a fight. It sounds terrible saying that, but against a fighter like Benavidez, staying in close or even mid-range will be a dangerous strategy. Andrade will have to use his 73 ½” reach and his solid footwork to box his way to a decision while keeping exchanges in close down to a minimum. If he can do that for twelve rounds, we could see an upset on Saturday night live on PPV.
DAVID BENAVIDEZ VS. DEMETRIUS ANDRADE PREDICTION
This is a tough fight to call as Andrade has all of the tools to beat Benavidez, but this 35-year-old version of Andrade won’t be able to hold up late in the fight. Benavidez squeezes out a split decision, leading to a rematch during the first half of next year.
