Alycia Baumgardner vs. Christina Linardatou 2: Preview, Prediction & Betting Odds

We are days away from the undisputed super featherweight title fight live on DAZN. The champion Alycia Baumgardner (14-1, 7 KOs) will defend her title against a known opponent Christina Linardatou (14-2, 6 KOs). This rematch has been years in the making as they met in 2018, but Linardatou came out victorious and handed Baumgardner her first loss as a Pro.

CAN ALYCIA BAUMGARDNER OVERCOME THE HOMECOMING BLUES THAT HAS PLAGUED THE SPORT RECENTLY?

It hasn’t been a great couple of weeks in boxing for those that had a homecoming as the fighter’s performance was underwhelming, and in some cases (Katie Taylor), it led to a loss. Baumgardner is coming back to her hometown of Detroit, MI, to defend her titles as she looks to get one of the more prominent names (Amanda Serrano, Katie Taylor, etc.) in women’s boxing for a fight in the near future. Aside from the pressure of fighting at home, Baumgardner also faces an opponent who beat her five years ago. There is much pressure for her to perform and avenge her loss to Linardatou. Baumgardner needs to stick to what got her here: to use smart movement and throw the big shots at specific moments throughout the fight. It’s a big ask for the 29-year-old undisputed champion, but she looks to prove she is ready for the challenge.

CHRISTINA LINARDATOU LOOKS TO PROVE THAT THE FIRST FIGHT WASN’T A FLUKE

Although Linardatou has one up on the champion Baumgardner, she is five years older and has less momentum coming into this fight. She has also been inactive, with only one fight last year, and the one before that was in 2020. Activity matters when facing next-level opponents; she just lacks it, which won’t bode well for her. Linardatou will have to be hitting on all cylinders if she wants to come away with a victory in Detroit on Saturday night. Their first fight was a split decision, and this time around, the judges won’t have a hard time deciding the winner.

Although Linardatou handed Baumgardner her first defeat, this one will not end in the same fashion as Baumgardner is a much more polished fighter than she was during their first fight. This one will go to the scorecards, and Baumgardner will retain her undisputed crown.
