Arum: Networks Won’t Stop Beterbiev vs. Bivol Being Made

Bob Arum is looking down the road to see the two best light heavyweights in Artur Beterbiev, whom Arum promotes, and Dmitry Bivol, who has a promotional agreement with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, need to fight for the best interest of the fans.

Beterbiev currently has the WBO, WBC and IBF light heavyweight titles, and is scheduled to fight in January against Anthony Yarde. Bivol is coming off winning Fighter of the Year in 2022, as well as beating Canelo Alvarez, the superstar in the sport of boxing, while holding the WBA light heavyweight title..

“As you said, this is way down the road. We’ll figure that out. No reason it can’t be figured out. I’m not going to let any network problems stop a fight that should be made,” said Arum. “…that is for tomorrow.”

Before Beterbiev can fight Bivol, he has two fights lined up. One with Yarde, and one with #1 contender Callum Smith. After those bouts, Beterbiev vs. Bivol can be entertained.

“Well, that’s good, Callum Smith is a good fighter,” Arum said. “If we get by this fight, [against] Yarde, why not take Callum Smith?
