Like most of the boxing world, Arnold Barboza (30-0, 11 KOs) is a very interested observer in Saturday night’s Gervonta “Tank” Davis versus Frank “The Ghost” Martin lightweight showdown. The clash takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on the Las Vegas strip.
The fight will be distributed by Amazon Prime as part of their output deal with Premier Boxing Champions. Both Davis and Martin fight under the PBC banner.
“That is going to be a really good fight,” Barboza told BoxingScene.com. “Martin is a good fighter but I don’t know, I think Tank’s power might be the difference. I think Tank by KO.”
Barboza is currently ranked No. 1 by the WBO at junior welterweight and would love to welcome Davis back to the division if he is victorious against Martin.
“Of course I want to fight him. I want to fight the best. I would love to fight the winner of that fight,” Barboza stated.
Davis, 29-0 (27 KOs), has fought in the division once. In June of 2021, he stopped Mario Barrios in 10 rounds, capturing the WBA ‘regular’ lightweight title in the process.
Martin, 18-0 (12 KOs), has been campaigning for a fight with Davis for several months. He was last in action in July when he defeated Artem Harutyunyan via unanimous decision at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The biggest win of his career took place in 2022 when he won a unanimous decision over the then unbeaten Michel Rivera.
Barboza has been very active in 2024 having gone 2-0 with 1 knockout victory already. He hopes to return in the late summer or early fall.
