Former unified world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr (35-2, 22KOs) has been accused of various anti-doping violations after seemingly being hacked on his Twitter account.
Ruiz, who famously defeated the unified champion Anthony Joshua in 2019 before losing the titles in a rematch in Saudi Arabia, has been accused of taking cannabis and codeine. However, the most alarming accusation is the accusation of IV drips to clean blood work to “clean my blood to make sure to come out clean when VADA comes to my training camps.”
Andy Ruiz Jr has since released a public statement directly to ProBox TV courtesy of his lawyer regarding the hacking of his Twitter account and has denied all the accusations labelled against h.
Speculation about who posted the accusations regarding Ruiz Jr is pointing towards his wife, Julie Lemus. Ruiz Jr & Lemus in April went through an unceremonious split, with the news of their split made public in April of this year following the publication, El Comercio, revealing that Ruiz Jr had started a new relationship with influencer Mayeli Alonso.
Ruiz Jr, according to the WBC, is positioned to fight former WBC heavyweight title holder Deontay Wilder to decide who becomes Tyson Fury’s latest mandatory challenger. That is despite recent talks regarding a heavyweight spectacular between Wilder & Anthony Joshua, with the headline act of Oleksandr Usyk & Tyson Fury also being targeted for December in Saudi Arabia. This would scupper the WBC's intentions of a final eliminator between Ruiz Jr & Wilder.
This week Ruiz Jr was chastised by Fury for apparently demanding a purse of $20 million as the “Gypsy King” continues to search for an opponent to defend his WBC title this summer. Andy Ruiz Sr responded to ProBox TV regarding the offer.
Following the defeat to Joshua in December 2019, Ruiz took time away from the sport before returning in 2021. Wins against Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz have seen Ruiz Jr well positioned across three of the four governing bodies' world ratings with rankings of #2 (WBC), #1 (WBO) & #3 with the IBF.
