Former middleweight world champion Demetrius Andrade is having one weird career. Regarded as one of the best fighters of his era, his resume is atrocious, and seemingly now at the end of his career - despite being a two-time world champion, a hall-of-fame bid seems unlucky.
The latest in his weird saga is that he is now out of a fight with Zach Parker after Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions won the rights to the bout with a bid of $305,000, reported Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com.
This comes on the heels of Andrade vacating the WBO middleweight title allowing Janibek Alimkhanuly to be elevated to a full champion.
The bout’s purse was downsized quite significantly from the originally $1,834,050 that Queensberry Promotions originally outbid Andrade’s former promoter Matchroom Boxing, but was called off after an injury pulled him out of the bout.
“I never bad mouth any fighter. I very rarely speak but this is not right and I feel my career has been badly stalled,” Parker said when speaking exclusively with BoxingScene.com. “Demetrius Andrade knew he would get knocked clean out and he was the perfect fight for progress to become world champion. I look forward to fighting in November and delivering a big performance for all my fans and team.”
