Janibek Alimkhanuly vs. Vincenzo Gualtieri: Preview, Prediction & Betting Odds

There will be a unified middleweight title fight live on ESPN this weekend. The WBO champion Janibek ‘Qazaq Style’ Alimkhanuly (14-0, 9 KOs) faces the IBF champion Vincenzo Gualtieri (21-0-1, 7 KOs), which looks to crown a unified champion. Will the German Gualtieri come out on top, or will Alimkhanuly use his ‘Qazaq Style’ to secure his second title in the middleweight division?

‘QAZAQ STYLE’ FINALLY GETS A UNIFICATION BOUT ON ESPN

It’s been a hard road for Alimkhanuly, who has been chasing big fights the last few years since making his introduction to the world stage. The issue he has run into is that the other champions of the division are with Premier Boxing Champions, so getting a fight with one of them has been nearly impossible. With the IBF champion now being Gualtieri, Top Rank secured the fight, and now we have a title unification on Saturday night.

This doesn’t appear to be a fight where Alimkhanuly will struggle, and it will look somewhat like the Denzel Bentley fight. He will try his best to get Gualtieri out of there, but this one will likely make it to the fight's final bell. Alimkhanuly will out-box Gualtieri and make this one look easy.

WILL SATURDAY NIGHT BE THE GRAND ARRIVAL OF VINCENZO GUALTIERI ON ESPN?

Gualtieri will be fighting as the IBF champion but hasn’t beaten anyone of note for it, as it was vacant when he defeated Esquiva Falcao (30-1, 20 KOs) three months ago. There are some things he does fundamentally wrong that he’s been able to get away with at previous levels, but at this one, he won’t. Gualtieri keeps his hands low, especially in close exchanges, which opens him up for a big counter punch. With only seven knockouts, Gualtieri will not be able to scare Alimkhanuly away with his power.

Gualtieri must use his legs and punch accuracy to steal most of the rounds without staying in close exchanges too long. Gualtieri could steal a victory if he mix that with some periodic holding.

JANIBEK ALIMKHANULKY VS. VINCENZO GUALTIERI PREDICTION

With Gualtieri having his U.S. debut, he will be ready to go the distance with the man that goes by ‘Qazaq Style.’ Unfortunately, he cannot do enough to secure a decision, so Alimkhanuly will score the unanimous decision victory on Saturday night.
