We heard the whispers before the ring walk of Alexis Rocha, but after he stopped Georgie Ashie on Saturday night, it seemed a given that Rocha will next face Terence Crawford.
Rocha now riding a six-fight win streak after being outboxed by Rashidi Ellis, has done the one thing the welterweight division rarely sees - stay active.
“[Crawford] is the fight that I want next, let’s go,” Rocha said when speaking to DAZN’s Chris Mannix after the fight. “Everyone always asks me if I’m ready. I won’t know until I’m in there with him. I’m ready for the big names. I know whoever I fight, I’m gonna take it up every level, every step.”
Last year, Rocha picked up the biggest win of his career stopping Blair “The Flair” Cobbs. Now, Rocha looks to be on the biggest stage of his life.
“I'm ready for the big names,” Rocha furthered. “Errol Spence doesn't want to fight Crawford for some reason. He's fighting Thurman. I'm next in the WBO, I want Crawford next."
