Adrien Broner Will Now Face Prospect Michael Williams Jr.

This is getting weird.

Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com first reported that Adrien Broner

BoxingScene.com has learned that former four-division titlist Adrien Broner will now fight prospect Michael Williams Jr. for the February 25 show from Gateway Park Arena, in Atlanta, Georgia.

This comes on the heels of the original opponent Ivan Redkach being pulled from the event over a contract dispute with his promoter Joe DeGaurdia’s Star Boxing, and Hank Lundy being suspended by the California Athletic Commission for reporting a cut in sparring for the reason Lundy pulled out of his fight with Ernesto Mercado.

Williams Jr has fought once since being stopped in a one-sided fight to John Bauza, that one fight was his only fight in 2022.

This is just weird. Broner is returning on pay-per-view against a essentially 23-year-old prospect, who has a record of 20-1, 13 KOs, and was stopped in his only step-up fight of his career.
