Stevenson-De Los Santos agreed to terms for vacant WBC lightweight title

Shakur Stevenson finally has an opponent as he is set to face the number-six ranked contender, Edwin De Los Santos which will to place for the vacant WBC lightweight title. The eagerly anticipated showdown is scheduled for November 16th in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is a Thursday, and will be broadcasted on ESPN, coinciding with the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend, as F1 will be doing a race in Las Vegas for the first time.

De Los Santos is a big puncher and recently securing a third-round TKO victory over Jose Valenzuela and outboxed Joseph Adorno over ten rounds. This is all coming after moving up a weight class after an eight-round split decision loss to William Foster III in 2022. De Los Santos has been calling for Stevenson, and now that the time is present - it has shown that he is ready for the for the challenge. 

The bout will also serve as a chance for Stevenson to look to become a three-division world champion, as Stevenson is best known for his defensive mastery. Stevenson seems to feel De Los Santos is a more formidable opponent than Frank Martin, who depsite earlier reports will no longer be facing Stevenson. While Martin's decision to not face Stevenson frustrated fans, it might be suggested that he might be in line to face Gervonta Davis in a big money fight.

Stevenson is largely viewed as one of the future stars of the sport of boxing and a centerpiece of the sport moving forward. This is a moment for him to look to win a title in his third weight class as well as show the type of ratings he can pull in.
